Back from Vacation; Marco Island

July 25, 2006

I have just returned from a week’s vacation on Marco Island, Florida which is located just south of Naples. It was interesting that just a year after being hit by a major Hurricane, there was no evidence of storm related damage. Much to the contrary I found everything to be well manicured and quite beautifully. I did take some time to tour the island and it’s many real estate offerings. I am often asked about Naples and Marco Island by clients who are interested in Sarasota. I must say that, to me, Sarasota is far nicer than Naples. I did notice a bit of contempt from some of the real estate agents in Naples towards Sarasota. As far as Marco Island, there is one reason to go; fishing. Marco Island has many canals running throughout the island. Local magazines claim that there is 100 miles of waterfront. It truly is a fisherman’s delight. Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge is located just to the south and the Everglades and the Florida Keys is just a few miles further. Marco is much like a blend of Bird Key and Siesta Key. The condition of the real estate market in Marco Island is much the same as here on the Islands of Sarasota. There is an increase in available properties and some of the gains of 2005 have receded but prices are holding and the market seems to be slowing regaining some forward momentum. If you are interested Marco Island, give me a call. I have made some wonderful contacts with seasoned agents who are very knowable about Marco Island properties.
