You can’t afford to FSBO

May 12, 2006

According to a recent posting on the National Association of Realtors’ website, the average cost of selling a home without a Realtor is $31,800. Their research found that the average home sold with the help of a Realtor brings 16 percent more on the sale than do those that do not have the help of a Realtor. Based on average home prices that comes to $31,800.

It is also fact that the number of unrepresented sellers in 2005 dropped from 18 percent in 1997 to 13 percent of total sales. During the past few years many have tried to sell their homes as “For Sale Buy Owner” or FSBO. The market was at one time so hot that there was almost nothing for sale and motivated buyers were literally going door to door asking if the owners would sell.

It is obvious to me that in today’s buyer’s market, now more than ever the help of an experienced Realtor is necessary. To read more on this subject click here.
