Stoneybrook on Palmer Ranch is an excellent choice for investment and enjoyment. As one of Sarasota’s most affordable gated country club communities it is made even more desirable by it’s close proximity to the beaches of Siesta Key. Sarasota Square mall is also very close by. August 16, 2009The Legacy Golf Course in Lakewood Ranch is soon the change hands. Due to the slowing economy the number of rounds being played have been down. The current debt to Textron Financial is not being adequitly serviced under the current rate of play. The course is not expected to close but the course will no longer be by Troon.

The Concession Golf & Country Club when fully complete will be comprised of 236 estate sized homes among 1,200 acres in eastern Manatee County. Most of the home-sites are at least an acre in size. The Concession derives its name from one of the most poignant moments in professional golf when the final hole of the 1969 Ryder Cup Match at Royal Birkdale in England, Jack Nicklaus conceded a two-foot putt to Tony Jacklin, for the first of only two ties in Ryder Cup history. Today, that gesture is considered one of the finest acts of sportsmanship in golf history and serves as the inspiration for the Concession Golf and Country Club. The Oaks, located in Sarasota in an area known as Osprey has always been the most exclusive and finest luxury Golf & Country Club. In the past year we have heard much about new, bigger and better golf communities such as The Concession and The Founders Club. Now that these new communities are ready for new residents, we can see the more expensive does not necessarily mean better. The Concession and The Founders Club boast the biggest and the best new model homes that our local builders offer while the classic beauty and close-to-the-beach location of the Oaks is hard to beat.
Currently there are 39 homes for sale in the Oaks at an average price of $1,954,617. The highest prices is $12,500,000 and the lowest is a modest $435,900. Ever wanted your own golf course?

The Serenoa Golf Club, presently owned by United Golf LLC will go up for sale latter this fall. United Golf LLC which paid $7.02 million for the 18 hole course in April 1997, has not yet set a price. The course, designed by Mark Alden includes a restaurant and a 7,000 square foot club house.
The course is surrounded by 35 golf front residences and a total of 192 homes making up the community of Serenoa. It is speculated that the buyer of the course may continue to operate the course. Currently, there are at least 100 private members of this semi-private course. Annually the course averages 40,000 public rounds.
Recent course closures in Sarasota county include Sunrise Golf Club, Heather Mills and Venice East. Additionally, the 188-acre Fox Fire Golf Course was recently purchased for $3.6 million. Residential development of this course is likely.
Currently there are 11 homes for sale at Serenoa at an average price of $755,645. The average size of these homes is 3,042 square feet.

June 20, 2006Today I had the pleasure of visiting the beach, hotel and golf amenities at the Ritz-Carlton Members Club here in Sarasota. I must say, the clubs amenities are most impressive. Members of the Ritz Carlton Club will enjoy three distinct clubs which include the Beach Club on Lido Key, the day spa at the Ritz Hotel in downtown Sarasota and the Ritz Carlton Golf Club at Lakewood Ranch.
Three membership types are available; Gold, Platinum, and Premier.
The Gold Membership offers unlimited beach, spa, and social benefits for the whole family and offers six tee-times in season plus unlimited golf privileges throughout the remainder of the year. Gold Membership fees include a refundable deposit of $75,000 and monthly membership dues of $400.00 per month.
The Platinum Membership provides full access to all club amenities plus the added benefit of unlimited golf and preferred tee-time both in and out of season. Platinum Membership fees include a $100,000 refundable deposit plus monthly membership fees of $900.00.
The Premier Membership includes access and enjoyment of all amenities and golf for a total of 30 days throughout the year. This membership is great for part time residents of Sarasota. The Premier Membership fees include a refundable deposit of $125,000 and yearly fee of $1,200.
Memberships are offered to the general public with no purchase of Ritz Carlton real estate offerings required. Additionally, there will be no food and drink minimums or assessments.
The Tom Fazio designed golf course is unique in that there are no homes located on or around the completely private course. By moving an estimated 1.9 million cubic yards of earth, Tom Fazio has designed a course that is unique to Sarasota. Elevation changes are common throughout the courses design with some holes having as much as a 40 foot change in elevation from tee to green. The course appears to have been carved out of the natural surroundings. The high tree lines along the Braden River, which borders the course, provides added relief to this unique landscape. The course is simply beautiful.

Laurel Oak Estates

Laurel Oak Estates is one of Sarasota’s premier golf & country club communities. It is characterized by it’s wide open spaces. In fact, Laurel Oak Estates consists of 813 acres yet there are only 430 home sites. The golf memberships are limited to only 600 with an additional 240 tennis and social memberships, though residency in Laurel Oaks is not required. The two golf courses at Laurel Oaks were designed by Gary Player and the older course was recently redesigned by Rees Jones. Amenities include the beautiful gated entrance, junior Olympic-sized pool 12 Har Tru tennis courts and a 45,000 square foot club house.
Currently there are 18 homes for sale in Laurel Oak. The average list price is $1,342,683. The most expensive home offered is a 6,800 square foot home with 6 bedrooms and a den which is priced at $2,500,000. The least expensive home offered is a 2 bedroom home with a den.
