Dick Cheney in Sarasota

October 6, 2006

hyattdickandgeorgeVice President Dick Cheney is in town today to speak at a luncheon fundraiser in support of Vern Buchanan a local business man running for Congress.  The fundraiser is to be held at the Hyatt in downtown Sarasota.  Our town is been accustomed to hosting such figures.  President Bush was in town visiting one of our schools on September 11, 2001.  Last year I had to opportunity to attend a lunch meeting at the Ritz which included another figure in the news lately; Denny Hastert.  With so many notable figures in politics and entertainment visiting Sarasota it is safe to assume that Sarasota has officially on the political and cultural map.
